Happy New Year

Kicking off 2026 with a great location on the River Thames

In today’s post, we kick off the New Year with a short walk along the River Thames and some photography, not an awful lot of photos were taken, it was extremely cold out there but the light was glorious. I just wanted to record a nice opening message for 2026, to set the scene for the year ahead. Let’s hope it’s a good one and fingers crossed it will be a joyous one.

We explored a few different places today from Bisham, via Marlow and then finished at Remenham which turned out to be a very interesting little village on the banks of the River Thames.

You can read a bit more about the history of the place via this website - http://www.assendonmuseum.co.uk/Remenham.pdf

We parked by the church, which was a bit busy being New Years Day, luck was on our side and someone pulled out, we grabbed their parking space and then went for a wander around the church noting some interesting graves, a number of those dedicated to members of the Berkshire Regiment who fought in the war.

We found our way down to the river from there and walked up towards the beautiful Temple Island, the location that marks the start of the famous Henley Regatta and a wedding venue like no other.

I’m excited for the year ahead and the things we shall discover.
